My Fashion Collection Sewing Plans For 2021
6 March 2021
Hello,
Suffice it to say, I feel horrible that this is my first blog post of the new year.
Last year put a serious spanner into the wheel of everyone's plans, mine included.
But ironically, I think this is a good segway into my sewing plans for the year. I started sewing mostly in collections last year, and, I have decided to stick with it this year.
It is a very good way of developing a cohesive wardrobe, I can't tell you how much it has helped with the "having nothing to wear" feeling.
Everything matches and flows together, getting dressed is a breeze.
Although, I don't think I can say that about this new collection.
HERE'S WHAT I MEAN
The fashion collection for this year is an Ankara collection, which I'm calling the LOUD CULTURE COLLECTION.
I feel it's quite apt because let's be honest here, ankara is bold, colourful, busy sooooooo, LOUD is the perfect description.
And, ankara is very much part of our culture as Africans even if it isn't our original attire.
Now because I wanted to shop from my stash ( I have tons of ankara given to me as gifts & leftovers from some past projects) and by the very nature of ankara, getting pieces to coordinate colourwise or even design-wise would have been a monumental task, and, the project would never have happened.
So, I decided that the fact that the major pieces of the collection were ankara was enough to call it a collection.
I am very happy that I decided to give this particular collection a go. My ankara wardrobe right now is very pitiful for an African girl.
I have been dying to change that. And I said as much in my video about my sewing intentions for the new year.
My sewing plans for this collection are kinda dope ( if I do say so myself, LOL). I have pencil skirts, bucket kimono jackets, mic and match prints etc.
But don't take my word for it. Check out the video, and tell me what you think.
Would you change anything? I need urgent ideas for tops to make.

Remake Your Ready To Wear 2019 (#RYRTW2019) Sewing Challenge
17 January 2019
Hey peeps,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I trust this blog meets you all well.
I don't know about you guys but I wasn't all that pleased with my sewing last year, quite fine I made some nice garments that I've had in rotation but my numbers are still down, I don't think I stuck to my secret goal of making one thing a month.
I'm hoping that this challenge will solve that for me, and then some. I'll make things I'll actually wear, use up some of my stash.
But, with this challenge, I've made public my intention to try and sew one thing a month which is perfect for a slow sewist like me.
So, what's this challenge all about?
I'm calling it the #REMAKEYOURRTW2019 (RTW, in this case, being store-bought clothes) or #RYRTW2019 for short.

Basically, it's getting 6 of your most loved RTW items, that you like the style and fit of, then, attempting to REMAKE them. The challenge starts Jan 7th to end the 10th of June 2019.
There are no winners in this challenge, indeed you are all winners for participating, it is supposed to be a fun challenge.
With this challenge, I'm hoping to,
- Encourage/coax more people into giving pattern drafting/self-drafting a try.
- Encourage people with patterns to be more daring and see how they can hack sewing patterns to remake their favourite RTW items.
- Encourage more sewing of styles that we love because they fit and flatter us.
- Have a more realistic and wearable wardrobe that fits into our lifestyles.
- Encourage people with patterns to be more daring and see how they can hack sewing patterns to remake their favourite RTW items.
- Encourage more sewing of styles that we love because they fit and flatter us.
- Have a more realistic and wearable wardrobe that fits into our lifestyles.
- Help people learn how to copy clothing they see.
Because, if at some point in the distant future you decide to take sewing up as a business, you'll surely have customers who want you to copy something they've seen on the runways, on a celebrity or even in RTW.
It helps to know how to copy well so that you are not on these #whatigotvswhatiordered tags going around 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The rules are simple
- Go to my Instagram page and repost the picture so that I know you're interested ( you never know which of your followers would be interested in joining you.
- Ready your 6 items.
- Tag me on your post updates and use the #RYRTW2019 tag so I can repost you makes.
I really truly hope you can all join in.
Please do watch my video to see which of my RTW garments I'll be remaking.

I remember when I started hearing the word culottes thrown around in the fashion sphere, I kept going "what the heck are those?" till someone pointed them out to me and I said...........but those are palazzo pants, and, they are, but every recycle has to come with a new name to be bonafide recycle, but you'll forgive me if I use the names interchangeably3rd Quarter Sewing Plans 2017
10 October 2017
Aside from loving to sew and documenting my sewing journey, I folks am regrettably what they call a #slowsewer. I'm guessing the term is self-explanatory, I take forever to sew up stuff, I dunno why honestly(though I think my slow sewing machine should share in the blame). it's something I'm seriously working on combatting, pray for me....LOL.
As a result of my fore mentioned aliment, condition.....(insert your own term here) my sewing plans video which other good YouTubers do every month will be done on a quarterly basis. The sewing plans video for this 3rd quarter will cover the months of July, August, and September.
Here is my humble offering
